map of New Zealand

Martinborough’s boutique wine growing district is located at the foot of New Zealand’s North Island at a latitude of 40 degrees south.

Martinborough has the lowest rainfall records in the North Island and is characterised by hot, dry summer days and relatively dry autumns with cool nights.

Martinborough’s Sauvignon Blanc vines grow less vigorously in the cool, breezy spring conditions. This results in lower yields which tend to produce more intense flavours than the better-known Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

In the lead up to harvest diurnal fluctuations between night and day temperatures add flavour and intensity to the wines.

Martinborough makes some of the finest Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand and is recognised internationally for producing fine wines and the results speak for themselves.
